Organization Structure:
Based on functions and tasks, the Reservist officers are divided among four groups:
All officers except the technical specialist have the following ranking grades: Division Leader, Deputy Division Leader, Regiment Leader, Deputy Regiment Leader, Battalion Leader, Deputy Battalion Leader, Company Leader, Deputy Company Leader, and Platoon level positions such as NCO.

Divisional and senior technical special service level positions are approved by MR commanders. Regimental and mid level technical special service level positions are approved by Group Army commanders, while the battalion and junior level positions are approved by division commanders of the same unit. Company and platoon level leaders?approval are the duty of the regiment commanders.
As with the regular force, the PLA reserve officers are divided into three levels (Deng) and eight grades (Ji). This system also apply to both the Air force and the Navy.

Technical specialist has three levels; they are senior technical specialist with retirement age of 60, mid level technical specialist with retirement age of 55 and junior technical specialist with retirement age of 50.
