21 Group Army (84810) Baoji

Category A Group Army; Stationed in N. Korea for 5 years after the Korean war.

Nicknamed “Army’s Party School”, due to large number of Central military commissions committee members started in 21st GA

Was a member of Beijing MR, transferred Lanzhou MR in 1967 as an effect to build up troops in Sino-Soviet border region.

Took part in defense of Lao Shan area in 1986-87

- 12 Armored Division (84701) Jiuquan /Gansu

“PLA daily 8-16-2000”, like most of the PLA Armored Div, the 12 was an independent formation before the 1984 Group Army reform.

12th armored division has 1 regiment of Type-88A and 2 regiments of Type-59 MBT.

- 55 Highland Brigade (84801) Zhangye/Gansu

Part of 2nd Field Army 19th Army Group during the Civil War.

Received new unit designation in 1949.5, joined 19th FA when it was formed in 1969, reassign to 21st GA in 1985 when 19th FA was disbanded. Reformed as a Highland Brigade in 1998.

Red Army Division, was the Dabie Shan Red 28 Army

Was 63 In V2.0; 181 regiment is a Red Army Regiment.

Its 182 regiment was created from of the New Fourth army’s old 7th and 8th regiment. Its 9th company is honored as Attack and Defense Hero company

- 63 Motorized Infantry Division

Part of 3rd Field Army 21th Army Group during the Civil War.

Transferred to PAP in 1996.

Its 187th regiment 8th company is honored as the “Heroic 8th company”

Received new unit designation in 1949.2, as the 9th Infantry division.

Part of 2nd Field Army 10th Army Group during the civil war, became a division of 19th Army Group during the Korea war, members of this divisions were from the disband 49(3) ID when it was disbanded in 1976. Reformed as a highland brigade in 1998.
