Type 88C Main Battle Tank: A Photo Essay

The rubber side skirts that are covering the Type 88C MBT's suspensions serve mainly as dust covers. Unlike side skirts that are found in many Western tanks, these don't really offer any additional protection to the hull. During Desert Storm, the Coalition's 105mm and 120mm tank gun HEAT rounds had no trouble of pushing aside the similar rubber side skirts on Chinese made Iraqi tanks and hit the hull behind it.
